Busy, alright!
I've been making new prints for my folio. And I've been progressing in the preparations for my trip to Barcelona, too.
I have put in the paperwork for my new passport, and I have booked my ticket (to be paid shortly)!
Very exciting! I will fly into London on th 26th of January and out of Paris on the 7th of March. I plan to take the train down to Barcelona for the month of February. And I'll wait and see what happens on the way back...
The above picture is of a wood engraving. Something I've never tried before and found it quite intimidating, but that was before I started!
It is quite small, less than 2 inches across, and the tools used create the finest lines imaginable. But once I got into it, I enjoyed the process.
Actually, the cross hatching lines are not parallel and aren't evenly spaced, but I don't think it's half bad for a first effort!
To finish it, the area around the shape will be removed, so when printed it will be just the carved wooden knob from the chair that I have been obsessed with this year!
I have also been making more mono prints with oil paint. I think this is my favourite so far. I wanted a 'wish you were here' feel, and now I just want to sit there, away from all the stresses of now!
But as they say, if you love it, it's worth it! And I do love it.
