The drive wasn't too long, somewhere around an hour and a half, but the weather was looking rather bleak and we drove through more than a few showers.
As we came closer, though, the weather cleared, and the entrance to the drive was a sight to behold. Flanked on both sides with cherry blossoms trees swaying in the wind. Just beautiful!
It is very early in spring and I noticed that there are a lot of bare areas, but I assume the plants that die back over winter will grow up and bulk out over the spring and summer.
The bulbs were beautiful, but I really enjoyed the textures and colours of the foliage that created a tapestry backdrop.
I fell in love with the purple sprouting broccoli with yellow flowers, purple buds and blue/green leaves. I was also delighted with the tulips under the citrus trees, because usually the area beneath citrus is left bare or is just lawn. I can definitely see some bulbs and a citrus tree in my garden's near future!
So after enjoying the gardens and the views, I enjoyed the nursery, and then it was time to go. It was really lovely to be bid farewell by the beautiful avenue of cherry trees. I am looking forward to visiting at different times of the year to see how the beds change and develop over the seasons.
Thanks Mum and Dad for a lovely day.
