I had Grand Plans, to write in the blog every day, to paint a postcard every day, to let you see my journey with me.
But I had forgotten several things: sorting and editing photos takes time; blogging takes time; making art takes time, and being a tourist takes time too. There were not enough hours in the day.
I had forgotten how time-greedy friendship is, and being social. I have made a number of amazing friends, some who I hope will come and visit Australia.
I dont regret any of these things. I just hadn't factored these into my pre-holiday equations.
Next time, I need something more reliable. The others residents bought their laptops with them, but mine is so big (not really complaining), and I was packing light.
I was very taken with Monserrat mountain just behind where we stayed, and felt compelled to make prints of that.
It was also decided that we would work towards an Open Studio night. This was a great sucess, but changed the focus of my art making.
Don't misunderstand me, I enjoyed every minute, but I came to make art about this magical city.
I have an opportunity to go back to Barcelona to immerse myself and paint. So I will return very shortly to do what I came to do.
So I am imagining how much I could get done in another week in Barcelona.
That doesn't mean I wont visit my new friends, it just means I will only visit them, not stay with them for a whole month.
This leaves more time for me to get reaquainted with my art supplies!
